A Multi-Tracer Study of Fresh Water Sources for a Temperate Urbanized Coastal Bay (Southern Baltic Sea)

چکیده
Terrestrial surface waters and submarine ground water discharge (SGD) act as a source of dissolved substances for coastal systems. Solute fluxes SGD depend on the composition water-solid-microbe interactions close to sediment-water interface. Thus, this study aims characterize evaluate hydrogeochemical gradients developing in fresh-salt mixing zone Wismar Bay (WB), southern Baltic Sea, Germany. Sampling campaigns covering WB, at beach WB shoreline, terrestrial near well sediments pore were carried out. In these different waters, distribution inorganic carbon, nutrients, major ions, trace elements, stable isotopes (H, O, C, S), radium have been investigated. Enhanced concentrations together with manganese, barium eastern indicated benthic-pelagic coupling via exchange between column. Salinity, isotopes, ions sediment profiles identified presence fresh below about 40 cmbsf central part bay. Geophysical acoustic techniques revealed local impact anthropogenic excavation, which reduced thickness layer aquifer bottom water, causing, therefore, upward flow top sediments. The impacted isotope (δ 18 δ 2 H) plot regional meteoric line indicating relatively modern source. calculated organic matter mineralization rates carbon much higher site when compared other unimpacted Therefore, reveals that sources contribute balance including

Factors controlling benzo(a)pyrene concentration in aerosols in the urbanized coastal zone. A case study: Gdynia, Poland (Southern Baltic Sea)
Annual study on the benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) concentration in aerosols in the coastal zone of the Gulf of Gdansk (southern Baltic) has been performed at Gdynia station. Combustion processes, especially domestic heating of both local and regional origin, were identified as the main sources of benzo(a)pyrene in this area. Concentrations observed during the heating season (mean 2.18 ng m(-3)) were sig...
متن کاملMercury in Precipitation at an Urbanized Coastal Zone of the Baltic Sea (Poland)
Wet deposition is an important source of metals to the sea. The temporal variability of Hg concentrations in precipitation, and the impact of air masses of different origins over the Polish coastal zone were assessed. Samples of precipitation were collected (August 2008-May 2009) at an urbanized coastal station in Poland. Hg analyses were conducted using CVAFS. These were the first measurements...
متن کاملRemediation of a Eutrophic Bay in the Baltic Sea.
Eutrophication of coastal ecosystems is a global problem that often results in bottom water oxygen deficiency and in turn promotes sediment phosphorus (P) release (A). In order to increase sediment P retention, we injected dissolved aluminum into the anoxic sediment of a eutrophic semienclosed bay in the Baltic Sea, thereby inhibiting P recycling and further eutrophication (B). The P concentrat...

15 صفحه اولa study on thermodynamic models for simulation of 1,3 butadiene purification columns
attempts have been made to study the thermodynamic behavior of 1,3 butadiene purification columns with the aim of retrofitting those columns to more energy efficient separation schemes. 1,3 butadiene is purified in two columns in series through being separated from methyl acetylene and 1,2 butadiene in the first and second column respectively. comparisons have been made among different therm...
